The First Aid Course is designed for those appointed to act as a first aider in their workplace. It provides knowledge and skills to deal with a range of medical emergencies, such as injuries, burns, poisoning, and anaphylactic shock. Participants will learn how to perform CPR, use an AED, provide basic first aid, and be aware of first aid regulations and duties. The aim is to acquire and be able to demonstrate the necessary skills to keep the casualty alive until the arrival of the emergency services.
The course is delivered in an highly interactive way, with many opportunities for ‘hands on’ practice, ensuring that the participants are well-equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide first aid. Moreover, having these skills can help save lives and prevent minor injuries from becoming more serious.
After the FAW course you will know how to assess the situation and provide the necessary help.
-
You walk into a construction site and see a worker who has fallen from the roof. The worker is screaming and refusing to receive help
-
You are in the canteen in the building and see a woman holding a cup of tea. Suddenly, someone walking past bumps into her, causing the hot tea to spill onto her legs. She is wearing tight jeans, so the hot liquid quickly penetrates her skin, causing her immense pain and discomfort.
-
You are in the hallway of the building and see a delivery driver struggling to carry a heavy box up the stairs. Suddenly, he collapses and stops breathing. You quickly assess the situation and begin CPR. Someone from the crowd brings you a defibrillator - what do you do?
and many, many more
Employer Responsibilities for First Aid courses
Employees who become ill or injured at work must receive prompt medical attention from their employers. To do this, they must evaluate their company's first aid requirements while taking into account the working environment, the staff, and any potential health and safety hazards. Employers must offer adequately stocked first aid kits, designate an individual to oversee first aid arrangements, and provide information to all employees outlining first aid courses and arrangements depending on the results of the safety evaluation and risk assessment.
