  • You came into the room and found an unconscious person lying on the bed. Their skin was pale and their eyes were closed, but you could hear their labored breathing. Without a moment to lose, you grabbed the defibrillator. Your hands shaking as you worked

  • On a construction site, a worker was badly injured when a saw cut through his arm. As the other workers rushed to his aid, the sight of blood caused one of them to faint.

  • Your colleague stumbled towards you, their expression pale and unfocused. When they spoke, their normally sharp voice was sluggish, a heavy, thick fog of fatigue and confusion surrounding it.

Employer Responsibilities for First Aid at Work

HSE and OFSTED approved

Employers have a responsibility to provide immediate attention to employees who become ill or injured at work. To do this, they must assess the first-aid needs of their business, taking into account the workplace, workforce and any potential health and safety risks. Depending on the outcome of the assessment, employers must provide a suitably stocked first-aid kit, an appointed person to take charge of first-aid arrangements, and information for all employees giving details of first aid arrangements.
